Common Questions
Does a finished basement need permits?
Yes. Finishing a basement in Montgomery County requires permits, and bedrooms require code-compliant egress. Unpermitted basement work is one of the most common problems that derails a home sale.
What about moisture?
We address it first. Depending on the house that can mean grading and downspout corrections, interior drainage, vapor barriers or a dehumidification plan. Finishing over an active moisture problem just hides it.
Can I add a bathroom down there?
Usually yes. If the basement sits below the sewer line we use an ejector pump system. We confirm what is feasible during the consultation.
Will the ceiling feel low?
We plan around ducts and beams early — soffits, relocated runs and flush-mount lighting all buy back headroom. We will tell you honestly if the ceiling height is a real constraint.
